Create your own question bank
In question bank section, another option is creating your custom question bank by adding your own questions.
Add questions to chapter
Select a subject and chapter you want to add questions to. Besides each chapter in the chapters list you can see the count of questions you have added in each chapter.
On the questions page inside a chapter, you will see all questions you have already added. You can use filters like Difficulty level, Question type on top to filter these questions. You can also edit these questions by using edit icon. If a staff is Super admin / Supervisor (Read Staff Access), it can change the question status to 'Verified'. Verification of questions helps you in moderating the questions added by your staff and you can only use verified questions in creating the exam.
There is an Add questions button on top which you can use to add new questions. It currently has 2 types -
Add questions from images
Import questions directly from PDF
Add Bulk questions using images
From this Page user has to add question by using "Add Question" button and select first option -
Add Bulk Question from images
By using this option you can add question images in bulk. You can crop images from your existing question paper or scan pictures from a book and keep them all in one folder on your PC. You can select ALL these question image files, set the difficulty level and type of question(s) and save them to be uploaded in the question bank to the selected chapter.

Question Types supported
Single - Multiple choice question with one option correct
Multiple - Multiple choice question with multiple options correct
Number - Numeric answer question typically required in JEE/JEE Advance kind of exams. Here the correct answer can be any decimal or number
Match - Matrix matching or Match the column type questions. Here you need to set the left and right column options e.g. A,B,C,D on the left column and 1,2,3,4,5 on the right column and then add answer key as (A-3,B-2,C-1,C-2,D-4 etc)
Subjective - Its not a multiple choice question and needs a descriptive/long answer
Import questions from PDF
Add Question by parsing pdf
You can use this option if you have a PDF file of questions properly formatted ready with you. Our system will then try to extract questions as images from your PDF based on the parameters you provide and makes your job easier. As described in previous method, you don't need to manually crop questions as images as PDF parsing does this for you. Once parsing is successful, you can just update the difficulty and type of each question and save them into the question bank.
PDF parsing parameters
Setting up correct parameters for parsing the PDF is crucial. Following are the parameters and their meaning -
Buffer - Default 5. Keep it as it is. Buffer needs to be reduced if the vertical difference or gap between 2 questions is very little and questions are overlapping due to this. Buffer of 5 works for most PDFs.
PDF format - One column or Two column. Question paper PDFs are sometime divided into 2 columns in which case you should select Two column as the format.
From/To Page Number - If you want to extract questions from specific page numbers. Picks all page numbers if left blank.
(This is typically useful when you have first page of question paper as instruction page or meta page. In that case you can start parsing from second page)
Question Number Prefix/Suffix - This parameter(s) are the most important one. Question number prefix means what character or letter comes before the question number in the PDF. e.g. if the PDF contains question number format as Q1. , Q2. .. etc then before each question there is 'Q' so your prefix becomes 'Q'. You can leave this blank if there is nothing before the question number
Similarly, suffix means what comes after the question. i.e. in above case we can see after the question number there is '.' So '.' becomes your suffix. You can leave it blank if there's nothing after the question number.
From/To question numbers - If you only want to pick a set of questions from the PDF. Picks all if left blank.
Solutions Prefix - Prefix which determines start of solution. If your PDF contains solution/answer key below each question and say it starts with keyword 'Ans:', you can use this as prefix so that solution is considered separately and is not part of the question
Width cropping style - You can try and adjust these parameters if the width cropping of question is not done properly. Default options works for most of the cases and is typically useful in case if two column PDF
If there's a parsing error make sure the above parameters are set correctly and try again.
If you think questions are not picked correctly, make sure the prefix/suffix you have set are correct and the pages selected contains prefixes in the right places. e.g. If your first page has question paper instructions, system may pick '1.' or '2.' as question numbers whereas they are actually instructions and need to be skipped. In that case start from second page
Note: PDF parsing only works on text based, digital PDFs and NOT scanned hard copy PDFs at this point.
